I'm thinking of applying for Prestige and Premier cards for mrs snic and me. I have some questions:
1. The Wiki for the thread "
Comprehensive Guide to the Citi ThankYou Rewards Program" says:
Q: Can my spouse and I each have an account and earn points?
A: Yes, and you can merge TY accounts if you're married (this action cannot be undone).
But I can't find any more information about merging spousal accounts either on FT or on the Thank You website. Is this really possible, and if so, does anyone have a link to the rules? Most importantly, do the points in a merged account remain there if one spouse cancels the card they were earned with?
2. The T&C for the Prestige card read:
“Taxable Points” are Points obtained through activity unrelated to purchases made with your Card Account, as well as Points received for a CBNA checking relationship and bonus Points that may be awarded such as for opening new Citi Accounts or for signing up for new Citi Account services with no spend requirements.
"Taxable Points" are not transferable. So are the bonus points earned for opening a Prestige or Premier account and making the minimum spend transferable or not?
3. The Prestige T&C also say that $250 in airline fees can be reimbursed each year, and that:
Airline Fees are defined as purchases made with airlines including Air fares, baggage fees, lounge access and some in-flight purchases.
There is some discussion in this thread about what constitutes an airline fee. Someone posted somewhere that as long as the airline charge is $100 or less, it counts as an airline fee and will be reimbursed up to the $250 limit. But the T&C suggest that any airfare would count as a fee. Has anyone just bought, say, a $500 ticket and gotten a $250 statement credit towards the ticket price?
