Would it be OK for the hotel to ask you to pay more if the price goes up? You have a non-refundable rate to lock in the rate against the price going up, but it also locks you in should the price go down. Double-edged sword...

There have been some instances of hotels agreeing the lower the rate, but it is up to the hotel, and many won't.
