BA doesn't have a flat tyre rule. That's an american thing. They can sometimes be flexible if you give them advance notice. I have rung up while on the motorway (for clarity this was while I was GGL) knowing that I was going to miss my flight on an inflexible ticket and been rebooked for reasons over which I had no control. It is very much a goodwill thing though.
There is this in BA's conditions of carriage.
If you need to change any aspect of your transportation because of events beyond your control, you must contact us as soon as possible. We will use reasonable efforts to transport you to your next stopover or final destination, without re-calculating the fare.
