I did a Google search on Westpac and clicked 'apply now'. Somehow all my details appeared on the application form (creepy). I submitted and got an almost instant approval. Received a very impressive boxed set holding the card - a bit over the top.
It provides lounge access to Priority Lounges - I really don't need it as I am Elite with NZ and platinum with QF - and they have really poor coverage of Australia and NZ.

But I think you are right that they have lowered the bar if they let me join with a cursory background check.
