This is not how a large company should behave to their customers regardless of whatever they may suspect.
You do realise all Avios belong to BA and AGL as per the T&C's, so they can take them off you.
Section 21
21.1. Avios points, and all rights of title to and property in such Avios points issued at any time, remains with AGL at all times and never passes to the Member.
I agree though that this is strange, but risk and audit teams in all businesses are secretive, and usually only give snippets of info to all parties.
I would call the UK number via Skype and see if they can give more info.
