I'm not a tech guy at all but I work with and have had some interesting conversations with a brilliant developer of aviation manuals/documentation applications.

This developer feels that the extremely tight controls Apple places on iOS developers is a huge benefit when it comes to developing aviation apps. Restrictive security and tight controls are important and very beneficial in aviation software.

His comment was along the lines of "I would never let a pilot run an EFB on Android."
