Anyone can see that carrying a balance at 18% interest or whatever isn't a good idea. But what's harder to discern is just how much more you are spending with a credit card since it removes, temporally, the pain of paying from the delight of receiving some good or service. I'd be the first to admit that I likely overspend using a CC versus using cash. Hard to resist.

I have a hard time understanding how paying 2x for something feels less painful when swiping a CC vs. a debit card or paying cash. You know the amount will have to be paid sometime soon. Only for those who are constantly carrying a balance and spending outside their means would this delay the payment in any meaningful way. Either way, hats off to those people....they subsidize my MS activities and free travel.
