BA don't really "do" standby for an earlier flight, even for their own elites on the day.

The BA(-badged) staff AMS at not going to help you, they wouldn't even let me move to an earlier flight when my booked flight was oversold and they were specifically looking for volunteers to take VDB and stay at AMS overnight at BA's expense.
