I am AAdvanatage Gold and was wondering if anyone has experience trying to go standby with BA. Details: I am holding a mileage saver award ticket using AA points going from AMS-LHR-JFK and want to arrive in JFK earlier in the same day. Thus, I am wondering will BA allow me to go standby on an earlier flight? I am not changing the date or destination. I know that AA will allow me on the flight from LHR-JFK even if there isn't award space, I'm just not sure about the AMS-LHR segment operated by BA..
BA don't really "do" standby for an earlier flight, even for their own elites on the day.
The BA(-badged) staff AMS at not going to help you, they wouldn't even let me move to an earlier flight when my booked flight was oversold and they were specifically looking for volunteers to take VDB and stay at AMS overnight at BA's expense.
