Whether it still applies now is questionable but previously (for example)
Y0 = you could waitlist
YC = Closed and you could not waitlist
On EK, they will often have all classes closed for busy flights which is a PITA as you cannot waitlist. Y1 will then appear and disappear depending on load and here things likes Expertflyer alerts are fantastic to go and grab the released seat as soon as it becomes available
