I took advantage of the two-week extension last year. However, despite multiple promises, e-mails and telephone calls, my status was not upgraded for several weeks after the qualifying flights had posted.

In the end Nicci was able to get it sorted out for me, but as we no longer have any useful BA presence on this board, be aware that you may have to spend a considerable amount of time and stress to get BA to honour the two-week extension.
