The 0500 MFR flight to PDX continues to SEA, arriving there at 7:18 which allows most of the east coast connections.

Yes, it's less convenient than simply having, say, an 0600 departure MFR-SEA, but it's not entirely correct to suggest that the east coast destinations are inaccessible from MFR.
