It probably depends on what you are doing. If your heavy spending is $2000 per day at Staples on an Ink card, getting a human involved is probably not a good idea. If you are chartering a plane with United I am sure they would be happy to make sure your charge can go through.

How much over your current limit do you need? Would making a mid-statement payment allow you to make the purchase?
