Well my first First was quite splendid

I took BA 28 from HKG to LHR, last night, and it was a thoroughly good flight. The cabin crew didn't put a foot wrong. The soup was decent (ended up having it from a mug, due to severe turbulence), the steak reasonable (a little dry, but tender enough), and the cheese plate was lovely. All washed down with plenty of very nice red. Regrets? I fell asleep before I could ask for a JW Blue night cap. Compared to CX J, on the outbound? Well:

  • The seats are pretty similar, but the BA seat is definitely more comfortable.
  • For sleeping, the BA mattress makes a big difference.
  • Service excellent and attentive on both, but on BA delivered on a more personal level (never had to ask for a refill).
  • The screens are the same size, but perhaps because of the lighting the BA screen seemed clearer.
  • There's less seat level personal storage space, with BA.
  • The BA pyjamas are a good idea. I boarded with a reasonably fresh set of clothes, and not wearing them in flight meant they were still reasonably fresh for my arrival in London.
  • The Concorde Room? I liked it, though I only had time for a quick coffee. There will have to be a next time!

Oh, and after various threads about cabin cleanliness, I found the cabin spotless.

Edit: Clarified a couple of points above, based on a question below.
