So that means MVPs on a R fare ticketed 6 months prior to flying trumps a MVPG buying a last minute fare? Really?

Wrong. It goes by status then time of upgrade request. Fare class doesn't mean anything with AS when it comes to upgrades (other than using a GGU). That said, a MVPG will still be prioritized higher than a MVP.
