I have booked St Regis using the same programme previously and was upgraded.
Of course - SPG Luxury Privileges is the top of the totem pole for upgrades...it's SPG's preferred partner program, akin to Four Seasons Preferred Partner, Mandarin Oriental Fan Club, Peninsula PenClub, Jumeirah Passport to Luxury, etc.

If the hotel has availability, you'd be upgraded with the utmost priority.

ps, PoochieLaGrande: why'd you book SPG LP over Virtuoso for your St. Regis stay?
