Yes. You are correct in this aspect. However, do understand that it is not easy to upgrade on UA with that many people trying. No doubt that if you don't get upgraded, E+ will win out on UA.

You know, H class is lot more affordable than you think on many routes. Seriously, check it out. As a SE, you have the best chance of getting it. The number of SEs on each AC flight is lot less than number of 1Ks on each flight.

I don't disagree with you about this. That 50% status miles thing on domestic flights is just plain stupid.
