For a bit longer on the ground in SIN, it is possible to take BA12 LHR-SIN and switch to BA16 for SIN-SYD. This has the minor advantage that one gets more tier points than on a through booking on BA16. There is the same advantage with respect to TP in going via Hong Kong, though LHR-SIN gets a few more points than LHR-HKG.

The TP improvement also works on the return, although the time in SIN is less than on the through flight.

Note that BA12 can be a 747 some days and a 380 on others.
