CDG, for me was always the painful security, to get to 2e, from where ever they parked my flights.
I agree AMS is one of the best airports to transit/fly from, it seems to be just about there for the passenger experience

TLV is indeed a poor parent, it is treated as a normal short haul by AF which is really annoying. Rumour had it that this might change but I am not privy to the details.
I must say that my experience of CDG transits has been flawlessly excellent in recent months. I doubt I had a single transfer taking more than 15 minutes, which is way better than at LHR! By contrast, for now, AMS has security re-clearing when you fly to non-Schengen even if you arrive from Schengen which is really annoying. My recent transfer experiences also had terrible passport control in the non-Schengen - Schengen direction (automated in the other direction which worked very well) with a single EU passport lane, copiously filled by non-EU citizens who took ages to be cleared.
