Unfortunately POU's arent offered on all pnrs, so there is always a risk this might happen. I've personally seen it several times with pnrs where people had booked as separate pnrs (but exactly same itinerary) and one passenger was offered it and one wasnt.

Its possible that if you had originally been booked separate you may never have been offered the POU. This is because it could be the POU was a promotion targeted at say your wife, so when the booking is split you dont see it in your pnr.
