I'm sure I read somewhere (but can't remember where) that if you have an HSBC Premier account, you can gain access to the Maharaba Lounge at DXB departures. Can anyone confirm this and if so, is access gained by producing a debit or credit card?
If the whole HSBC thing isn't correct, that's fine but we're unsure if we should bother paying for lounge access. Our flight back to LGW leaves around 3am so somewhere reasonably quiet for some food/drink would be nice.
Thoughts & advice from experienced flyers from DXB would be really welcome, thank you :-)
Edited to add we are flying EK (in Y) if that makes a difference
You need to present the HSBC Premier Credit Card - however, they technically need to be HSBC Premier cards issued by HSBC Bank Middle East.
YMMV as to how detailed the inspection of the cards is though at the lounge. I can't remember if they run it through an automatic checking machine to see if it's eligible or not. If I am down near one in the next couple of weeks, I will check for you, but lately I have been experiencing 30 minute connections! Perhaps another FTer will take one for the team and go an enquire for you!
Also, I think the Marhaba lounge provisions generally suck - I'd pay 10-20GBP and go to one of the food outlets instead. 0000-0300 is peak time, so both lounges and the terminal itself will generally be busy.
