Have you been to Birmingham, AL? There is no Loews or Hyatt. The Sheraton was booked due to the conference I was attending. I heard from numerous conference attendees that it was a quite horrid experience there as well.

I can only say that perhaps the "chains" in Birmingham all need serious attention.
