Can anyone offer any experience on whether Delta's pricing to Nassau is historically competitive with other carriers?

I'm searching March 12 to 19 and finding Delta almost $300 a ticket higher than US Airways (DSM). I have $1000 to spend for my Delta frequent flyer account but right now Delta would be $1200 more expensive.

I know that is a long time away and those dates just opened up but that is our local market's spring break and historically there will be no seats on any airline out of the airport that weekend.

I have never flown to Nassau so I have no experience with what a good fare would be. Can anyone offer any insight? I don't want to wait for Delta to come down if it never will and at that point I've missed lower fares on other airlines.
