I actually prefer a local San Salvador mobile number on a prepaid SIM so
my local friends/contacts can call me with just a local call. I will probably
not be calling them.

I do wish I can switch T-Mobile. I was with them between 1999 and 2005.

Then I moved to a city of 350,000.... for some strange reason, T-Mobile's
coverage here is still only 2G. Yes, I said TWO-G. The local T-Mobile
store manager said we probably would still be stuck in 2G for at least
another 2 years.(early 2018 is when T-Mobile corporate expect to upgrade
us from 2G to 4G... 2018... 2018???!!! ) For Pete's sake, my "little"
town has 7 Walmarts within a 10-mile radius, yet T-Mobile thinks it's okay
to keep us in 2G? (especially considering that Walmart and T-Mobile
markets their own service)

Besides, I still have my Verizon unlimited data plan grandfathered in.
(monthly usage about 700gb) As soon as T-Mobile goes 4G here
in two years, I'm switching to T-Mobile's unlimited data plan.
