Tight connection time insurance?
I will be in Thermopiles WY on Sat, May 9 as a speaker at a meeting (so I cannot leave the meeting early). That means I cannot get back up to Billings to make the 6:40 pm (last) flight back to SEA. So, I am taking the 6:00 am flight on Sunday back to SEA. That flight arrives at SEA at 7:15 am, but the rub is that I have to be in Ft Lauderdale on Monday, so I am booked on the SEA -FLL flight that Sunday and it leaves at 8:45 am. The two trips cannot be joined, to make this "one trip". Would you purchase a ticket for Monday, thus ensuring that if for some odd reason the BIL SEA flight is delayed I can fly out on Monday (sort of a trip insurance if you will) but cancel that flight on Sunday, if I make the flight and have the funds go back to my wallet? The BIL flight has a very good onetime percentage, but the last few of my trips on the Q-400's have involved mechanical issues that resulted in delays. (i.e. Tuesday, SEA-GFT was a 2 hr delay, we had to divert to GEG for an electrical issue) so I am feeling a wee bit apprehensive.
