Highly recommended, especially for Europeans. Nice people (try that in NYC), excellent food, amazing architecture, great lake-front setting, and fun and vibrant Blues scene, plus lots of other stuff too (museums, outdoors, fun festivals, etc.)
Just avoid October through early May, and you'll have a great time there!
Chicago is great; I was there last month and have another trip planned for November. I can handle the cold.
The architecture is super and museums world-class and plentiful. Often overlooked as a tourist destination!
