But those emails irk me too. Why use a word like 'holiday' anyway? I would have thought that a lot of travel doesn't fall into that category. There's business travel, family/medical/legal reasons to travel etc.
On that sort of mass marketing I'd have thought it'd be easy enough to write puff talking about the trip/journey/visit without having to get into the reasons for it.
Legal reasons for travelling? Are you on the run?
But seriously, I agree with both your points. Chicago is a great city. I've only been there on business, but had a wonderful day off each time and music, restaurants etc have been great. Probably my second favour US city.
But the emails annoy me too. We are all by definition seasoned travellers and adults, and I don't like being marketed at as if I was a child.
