ANA Lounge & SWISS Business NRT-ZRH
The flight departs at 10:25 which meant we would be taking the 7:31 NEX that would get to T1 at 8:37 and then of course up through the bowels to check in and what not.
Check in wasn't too much of an issue. Walked to the F/HON/*G and was first in line. Someone was in J who was there before me and they actually pulled us up first to the counter for the J line before that person.
OLCI was a little bit of an issue. I had tried doing it on the SWISS app but it then tried to send me to the LH mobile site which said I couldn't do OLCI. I had my SWISS confirmation # but when I got to a computer I went to the LH site and put it in with the eticket # and it all worked fine (and showed a LH confirmation #). This was booked on 016 ticket stock from a UA award flight.
I've only flown OUT of NRT one other time and that was on NH F where I could use the Suite check in and dedicated line.
F/J/*G have the fast track access here. It was pretty quick and not that busy. The Chinese woman ahead of us was VERY flustered and you could tell she was late for her flight. From what I could tell she kept trying to insist it was easier for her to take her purse and bag through the metal detector with her than through the Xray.
Mid-week morning at exit passport control was easy.
Mom asked..."Why aren't we using the United lounge?" when we talked by? Silly girl! We're in Japan we are using the ANA lounge!
Curry/noodle bar, onigiri, finger sandwhiches, meatballs, noodles, sushi, beer, tea all in nicer furniture. It was a little bit crowded but still not hard to find a place to sit.
Boarding was listed as 9:55 so at 9:45 we made our way over. I had 700Y leftover so we stopped and I got my nephew something new for his "curiosities shelf"--a little Fukouka owl to bring good luck.
Back on a SWISS A340 one week after flying it to SFO. On cabin down from F, I was fine to check out LX J and I know my Mom would like it. Originally I had us flying through ICN on OZ. I could have also done OS but the connection in VIE was 55 min and didn't want to risk it. There were CA F available but I think for all the extra miles it would have been lost on my Mom. I would have maybe sprung for LH F if it opened up but I didn't bother checking since I'm down on miles after booking a trip for the end of the year to Perth & Thailand.
I went for the the A/B side for the two of us. I could have done K but I wanted to sit next to each other and didn't feel like being in the middle of the cabin.
Modular amenity kit, we both got the little tote. Some of the travel wallets looked nice. One was left as we were disembarking but I didn't swipe it. Mom was a fan of the red socks.
The door closed and one FA was coming picking up PDB empties. She noticed our whole side of the plane didn't have any and asked if we were served a drink. She then sprung to action and made sure we could all wet our whistle before we took off.
Once airborne the carts came through again doing a pre-meal drink service.
It wasn't until about 30-35 min into the flight that the IFE came on. I went in and picked a movie and then it just went black. Tried it again, same thing. Tried it on Mom's same thing. I could see it on a few other TVs around me. I got the MdC (who by the way he was WONDERFUL) and he did a reset. Nothing after it started again. He made an announcement saying he would have to reboot the whole system. 10-12 min later tried again. Nothing. He then did the individual seats around us (about 6). Some of them worked but Mom, myself & the throne in front and behind us didn't work.
Apologizing (and a comment from another fussy FA peanut gallery who was walking by along the lines of "It is an old system you have to go slow it's not like your iPhone) he actually had one of the Japanese FAs ask the people two rows ahead of us if they would switch with us after the meal since they weren't watching TV. I didn't realize he did that until after the fact, I didn't ask him to nor would I have suggested it. We declined and then he said (maybe because I had put on my F PJs before) that if I wanted to get up and maybe watch one or two movies during the flight I could move to the First class cabin after the meals or any seat in Economy and he would bring us a compensation card.
While he was gone I fiddled with the system some more and found that the games at least worked!
Playing Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Battleship and brushing up on language during lunch.
He came by with a 200CHF or 8000 M&M miles voucher. Actually not all that bad since I'll have a flight in July I can book with those (probably TXL-ZRH-VIE).
The duck and salmon terrine were both decent. Good but ordinary.
The spaetzle was great! Gooey, flavorful, right texture.
The cheeses were okay but the kuchen was really, really good.
I decided instead of worrying about movies and what not ( I also had some GoT on my laptop) that I would try to get some sleep.
I ended up not waking up once and slept until 2:45 left in the flight!

The arrival meal service was the chicken (warm) salad or some pasta I couldn't really see what it was. A good yuzu dressing and greens. Mom said I slept through the ice cream. There was also a big table set up in the galley with sandwhiches, chocolate, chips, instant soup and some other bits.
Touch down in Terminal E and would make our way burrowing through the tunnel to connect to our LHR flight out of D.
