I'm not convinced that using a TA would be any great advantage. You need to be able to deal directly with the cruise company over the fine details. A TA just slows things up. Also, if you deal directly with the company you get all sorts of discounts/special offers on other trips. But then, I never use a TA on any kind of trip. I just don't see the point of them, frankly, especially in the age of the internet.

Just decide what sort of ship you really want - big or medium-size, with lots of facilities and entertainment, though seriously limited in where it can go; or small with the sense of adventure and exploration. Then the right company becomes self-evident . . .
