Check in for premium passengers (first and Business) at Changi is handled by a separate premium check in area not staffed by BA staff and he will be able to checkin at 6pm.
He obviously will not be able to get into the lounge if it is closed.
I tried the Qantas lounge a couple of weeks ago on my way to Syd. It is better than the BA lounge.
