Currently the jets have a much better track record.

But, put simply, you need to consider flying out on earlier flights at some times of the year, and if it's a critical connection, have a look at the weather forecasts and make a judgement call to depart town earlier if you think the weather is closing in.

For flying inbound, there is not a lot you can do, but hope that the weather is favourable.
