So first question is: From my limited research it seems about half the time or a little more the plane parks at the Int terminal. Is 48min enough time to make it from the Int terminal to domestic? Can I do this without having to go back through security?

Second question is: Looking at the limited flight history the plane typically seems to arrive 15+ minutes late. On some days its over an hour and I would definitely miss my connection. There is a later flight to SEA that would give me a lot more connection time. Do I have any ability to get changed to the later flight without paying a change fee (this flight is a month away)? (Even maybe a sympathetic CSR if I explain the situation?)

Two notes (maybe important?):
1.These are upgraded flights using miles so Business on the IAD-SFO and First on the SFO-SEA

2. There has been a schedule change on my itinerary but it is an outbound leg - could this help at all?

Thanks for your help!
It's doable, but tight. As mentioned, you do not need to exit security. Hang a left just before exiting the TSA checkpoint and head down the escalators toward the domestic terminal. From there, the length of the walk can vary widely. If you're lucky, your SEA flight will leave from one of the 70-75 gates. If it leaves from the upper 80s or 60s, however, it's a longer walk. If your IAD flight is on time, you should have plenty of time to get to the next gate before boarding has completed there.
