What VS flights are these that have a 40 minute lay-over? Only ones I can think of are some of the Caribbean ones.

But the answer is 'no'. They will have enough problem boarding new passengers without having to worry about where you have gone.

Also you may also be breaching immigration laws of the country where this stop is happening.
