Just checked in to the Detroit Marriott.

$189 per night.

Gold Elite.

No upgrade despite the hotel being nearly empty.

Small room with a very small, dated bathroom.

Bathroom didn't have lotion, ear buds, shower cap.

Towels were old and thin. Actually a bit nasty to use.

Lounge available but closed on weekends.

No happy hour.

No mini-bar.

Am I missing something?

For $200 a night in Detroit, I'd expect a bit more effort.

Is this the new norm?
