I agree with everyone else that Marriott Platinum over Gold status has minimal value. I am also a Hyatt Diamond, and received Marriott Gold due to UA. I try to stay at Hyatt wherever one is available, as I've found that Marriott does not provide anywhere near the level of service to its elites that Hyatt does.

With that said, as Hyatt has a much smaller footprint, I value my Marriott Gold for stays where there is no Hyatt, but I wouldn't try to get to Platinum as the incremental value is minimal.
