Thanks for the bump. Sorry for the long delay in finally getting this report in. I actually wrote up the whole thing the day after my stay but then I lost it when the internet went down.
Anyway, this property has a huge noise issue on the weekends. It may be perfectly fine on weekdays but it turns into a party palace on weekends. Seems to be the "go-to" place for frat guy types and their hangers-on. I assume all of this relates to McGill University visitors or something like that.
I should have been tipped off about the noise problem at check-in. They have two large placards on easels on either side of the elevator bank which cover the hotel's noise policy in extensive multiple paragraphs. Well they need that policy and need to make it more stringent. Noise Noise Noise in the guest room corridors for 2 of the my 3 night stay. Party Time at the HGI in Montreal it seems. One night I was kept up most of the night with endless partying, screaming, and doors opening and closing all night/morning. Another night ( a Sunday) I arrived back quite late after a night on the time (actually arrived my room at circa 2:00am Monday morning). When I got to my floor, security was already present and speaking with a large group of young people....presumably about noise issues. Ugh!!!!
Hilton, please please please offer another alternative in Montreal to replace the Bonaventure. The HGI simply won't do due to the severe noise issues.
