If SPG is serious about Africa and wants to grow its Tribute Portfolio, I recommend Starwood reach out to the Newmark Hotel group based in Cape Town. The Dock House Boutique Hotel and Queen Victoria Hotel both are easy candidates for the Tribute Portfolio or even the Luxury Collection, and the V&A Hotel is perfect for the Tribute Portfolio. Together with the Westin Cape Town already there, these would give SPG some of the best options available in Africa's best tourist and growing business sector city. And perhaps pave the way for further expansion in South Africa and Southern Africa.

Starwood desperately needs to compete in Africa with Marriott after Marriott's purchase of the much lower rung Protea Hotels group. A bigger foothold in Cape Town would really be a boost to SPG. And I'd love the Dock House being part of the SPG fold, for sure. I've stayed 3 times already at the Dock House.
