Construction is under way, it is behind a walled off area. As for showers, I agree that the transcon routes are probably part of the reason. They can now really offer a full service business class experience.

Personally I find the current lounge really dated. Unlike some of the older lounges (SLC & DTW for example), this one does not have that old classy feel.
