Yeah, those logistics make more sense. The time I visited Thailand, we saw BKK and northern Thailand. We liked it, but it didn't blow our socks off. We didn't go to the beaches because we thought northern Thailand would be "more interesting."

So I'm generally inclined to try "something new." I've never been to the Philippines. I will admit that it doesn't seem to make a heck of a lot of sense in this situation.
