a quick pricing comparison shows that UA's lowest fares for MR's from SFO are:

SFO to:
TPE - $440
NRT - $478
ICN - $488
PVG - $558
PEK - $578
HKG - $588
BKK - $610
SIN - $628

not that i'm complaining, but any ideas why TPE is so low (especially since the flight even goes through NRT, and the SFO-NRT is 38 bucks more...)

Sounds like a pretty good long haul MR, if you can afford the travel time (or not wanting to do nesting).

thanks to the election, right now EVA is offering election special fares, and the two parties are flying people for free back to TPE from the US to vote
