Look on the bright side. It seems like there are really two seasons.

There is Mileage Run Season when they are trying to fill flights with bargain fares.

Then there is Bump Run Season, when with a little advance planning, full flights and overbooking can really pay off in TCs and/or free tickets.

Seems like there is always an opportunity to come up one way or another.
