Ah, but I think that is the issue: if you mention the second booking the agent will (IME) insist on cancelling the later booking and leave the earlier intact. THis is what happened to me on several occasions (bookings exactly identical, so I didn't care which one they cancelled.)
That was my method of thinking, hence the suggestion not to assign the same exec number to the duplicate booking until the former is cancelled correctly. Although the system will accept this, it could just over complicate matters unnecessarily.
