I just landed from my SFO-LHR MR with 2.5 hour turn-around. Did V fare for $587 and upgraded - yielding 53680 miles Enjoy.

If you havent done it before - it isnt that bad. Immigration was cake yesterday at LHR (I waited longer in FastTrack). No questions asked by Immigration. Zoomed through customs and went to check-in. Through security then onto duty free and the London Lounge - shower and breakfast. Hopped on flight and was back at SFO exactly 24 hours after leaving. Immigration was cake again (we beat the Lufthansa flight). I deplaned and was on the BART platform in under 10 minutes.

Observations: 747 (flight 930) SFO-LHR was pretty full / full in all 3 cabins. 777 LHR-SFO was EMPTY. 24 open business seats and most people in back were laying down over 3 or more seats. 777 was C+/E+ (flight 955)

Have a great flight.

Did the same thing over the past weekend, but stayed a night in London for some fun

Took the 954 (777) on Friday evening ... every seat taken I think. Came home Sunday on the 919/951 LHR/IAD/SFO. All in V for the miles. LHRIAD on 919 was only about half full. IADSFO on 951 was packed. Too bad we didn't travel together. You could have paid half of my $59 rate at the Sheraton ... yes US$59! The Heathrow Express cost more than my hotel room.

Edited to add:

I may have to do it one more time for those 50K miles or so since I have 2 more SystemWides expiring this month. So if you're interested ...
