I have an award ticket issued by US that includes a stopover on the outbound. Now, I need to make a change to the ticket.

Will I need to call the AA desk and if so, will they frown on honoring a stopover (AA awards no longer allow this.)
The ticket was issued with cities en route that - while not the straightest line from Origin to Destination - are likely under MPMs for the routing. Will this be an issue too?
I need FTer suggestions so as to decide whether its worth calling the get this ticket reissued for the revised dates.
Quick reply to my own message: the change process was smooth and flawless. AAdvantage desk transferred me over to another desk, the dates of the award travel were changed without question.
I got to keep the original stopover and AA never blinked about this.
