BA chgd flight no and dropped me and now it's full
Hi,
Looking for some advice as I'm a bit stuck and BA seem to have ruined a holiday to Grenada that has been in the planning for 6 years (England Cricket fan).
Way back on August 7th 2014 I booked LGW-GND return, I'm supposed to be travelling next week on 21st April 2015 in Club World, coming back Premium Economy on 28th April 2015. I used my avios points and a 2-4-1 voucher.
In September they moved both outbound and inbound to the dates mentioned above, both moved earlier by one day. Details from my email below:
***The following flight has been cancelled***
Flight Number: BA2159
From: Gatwick (London)
To: Grenada
Depart: 22 Apr 2015 10:10
Arrive: 22 Apr 2015 15:30
*** You have been re-booked onto this flight ***
Flight Number: BA2157
From: Gatwick (London)
To: Grenada
Depart: 21 Apr 2015 10:45
Arrive: 21 Apr 2015 16:20
***The following flight has been cancelled***
Flight Number: BA2158
From: Grenada
To: Gatwick (London)
Depart: 29 Apr 2015 17:00
Arrive: 30 Apr 2015 08:00
*** You have been re-booked onto this flight ***
Flight Number: BA2156
From: Grenada
To: Gatwick (London)
Depart: 28 Apr 2015 17:50
Arrive: 29 Apr 2015 09:00
Last night when I was paying to pick my seats on the outbound leg, once payment was complete the inbound leg appeared with line through it and said it was cancelled. It was not like this before when I had looked at my booking.
My research then showed that GND-LGW had changed from BA2156 to BA2158 as I have a colleague who was on the same flights as myself, but under a separate booking and their booking referenced BA2158.
I rang BA early this morning. At first they said it was cancelled. Then when I pointed out that the flight no may be wrong but the time is the same as the flight my friends are on they were very confused as to what has happened. They looked at BA2158 and have said there is only one seat on the plane left, a PE seat - I'm travelling with my wife so we need two, so no good.
BA are now contacting their revenue department to see if they can release any extra seats on the inbound flight and are getting back to me, "maybe in a couple of days".
Does EU261 apply? I read that if they give two weeks notice, then not. Two weeks was today, so they made it by a day? Or perhaps they haven't because my outbound leg was 8 days away when I found out? Or perhaps they haven't because they did not contact me via phone or email?
Also my pre-paid (non BA) hotel booking has now past the free cancellation period, if I can't get the return leg sorted out then is it likely that BA would consider paying that cost?
Any other helpful advice appreciated, just trying to find out where I stand should they not be able to give me a return flight.
Thanks!
