Berlin Luxury Hotels

Any recommendations for Berlin in late May early June? I would prefer a hotel with a club lounge. Room rates for the Saturday night are outrageous but reasonable for the Sunday & Monday. I need reasonable access to the S-Bahn as I have to attend a conference but I also want to do some sight-seeing

Previous trips have included:

Ritz Carlton. Unappealing decor in the usual 'heavy' RC style; indifferent front of house staff but an excellent club lounge. Virtuoso no longer offer a club room upgrade unless you book a suite. Club rooms overpriced

Waldorf Astoria: A glorified Hilton in a drab part of the city. Stayed in Dec 2013 and I sensed that the hotel will age very rapidly as the finish by the builders was poor. Mediocre breakfast buffet for a German hotel.

de Rome: very dark and gloomy lobby and the usual Rocco Forte decor that I have encountered at stays in Brussels, Munich and Rome.

Adlon: crowded lobby gave it the feel of a convention hotel but I did not stay there. No virtuoso offers at present for the Adlon.

Regent: charging 600 Euro for a basic room at present!

The Intercontinental combines club access with reasonable rates but I have doubts about the location. Style is reminiscent of the old IC in Cologne and appears very dated; has anybody stayed there of late?

Time for one of David O's excellent city hotel reviews !?
