Maybe AC has found the key. Why court thousands of SE's when you can just court the VIP of a company that holds the purse-strings. I suspect that there are a ton of SE's (at least in Canada) who work for a company which has a preferential deal in place with AC. I also know that in terms of the Federal Government, AC is "preferred" as it is a Canadian carrier.
Some people, like yourself, have choice. Others, maybe not so much..
We have a preferential deal in place. We get something back (the word kickback is way too strong), but $ back or something like that? We do so with WS too though....so...FWIW.
I know for a fact we have an agreement for both, and its even easier when I see my employer's name at the bottom of a ticket on AC which I book on Concur. So I wouldn't go so far to say that AC is preferred. If we couldn't negotiate preferred AC prices to beat WS, I highly doubt any other employer's in Canada can...* (based on volume of travel - as a guess if our hotel rates are any indication when my rates are 1/2 to 1/3 of what the lowest price is - i'm going to guess we travel a lot, we certainly make a lot of $ (read: billions just in Canada) //and yes, many of us fly on AC, the FFers and the non FFers so....it's not like we ain't trying
