Priority tag on checked luggage for PM/DM

Okay, I know this is piddly s*** but I thought it might make an interesting discussion, and I’d like some others’ opinions.

I flew out of CHA this morning and on the kiosk check in I was going to check my rollerbag. It asked me if I wanted to volunteer as it was oversold, which I did, and put in 500 as my buyout price. It didn’t give me the chance to check a bag in the process. I figured “oh, because I volunteered” I printed my BP’s and went to the gate.

After I saw I didn’t get the voucher, I checked in my bag at the gate. Typically every other time I check my bag they put the yellow “priority” tag (because I’m a DM I suppose) and my bag comes out pretty quick which helps a lot because the rental bus only seems to go by BWI every 20-30 minutes, so 5 minutes can make a big diff!

But this time, no yellow priority tag. I asked the GA, and he said “only if the printed out tag calls for it” ...? I sort of embarrassingly reminded him I’m DM (it sounds pretentious I know, but I said it humbly..) He just shrugged and said sorry. I dropped the subject and sat down.

Once I got to my final, it was 25-30 minutes before my bag came out, I “just” missed the bus and had to wait another 25 minutes for the next one, and I missed half hour of one of my meetings which was a bit embarrassing.

Was I supposed to get the priority tag on this bag? Should I make a complaint? I know this sounds like a DYKWIA question but if being on 180 segments in 2014 gets me a faster bag retrieval I’m going to take it!
