On the inside the 9-abreast A350 will likely be a more comfortable plane than the 9-abreast 787 for the same reason that the 320 is more comfortable than the 737 - wider cabin on a per seat basis. Airbus assumed that the 787 would be 8-abreast and their design is a little too narrow to fit 10.
