Most rental companies in the UK are OK with the original licence, so long as it's printed in English.
Generic stuff.
UK rental cars are usually manual. If you want automatic, you have to specifically reserve it.
All UK rental companies are very strict on damage control, tougher than many North Anerican visitors are used to. Thoroughly check the car for pre existing damage before you drive away.
