More serious: stating Taiwan and China as different countries really upsets the Chinese (PRC folks) as much as a criminal record
. Or, maybe, it is criminal to them
. BTW, when I am asked how many countries I have lived in or visited, I list China and Taiwan as separate, but have gotten grief in China over my "ignorance" in not knowing that Taiwan is a province just like Hunan.
